DTEL became Gastonia’s first and largest telecom equipment dealer in 1984 thanks to our founders, Bill Dover and A. J. Turnipseed, both Southern Bell retirees with over 30 years’ experience at the time.
In 1990 DTEL became a Comdial Associate Dealer, a Preferred Dealer in 1993, and then was promoted to a Preferred Gold Dealer in 1997. In 2002, DTEL was named a Vodavi Infinite dealer, and subsequently an Allworx dealer in 2005. Our company achieved the Allworx Apex Partner distinction in 2011 and later Platinum status 2013. By 2016, DTEL became an NEC Solutions Provider and a registered ISP, providing SIP and hosted voice solutions.

Prior to getting DTEL involved, our IT system was a mess. We knew we needed to upgrade our system and bring our computer needs into this century. This is when we found DTEL and Charlie Peninger and his team. They worked with us and helped us determine our needs and didn’t try to sell us things that weren’t required. Our system is now state-of-the-art, fast and reliable. Our issues have been fixed and our staff is pleased with the entire system. When called, DTEL is always available and easy to work with. DTEL and their team of professionals are the only people that we will have work on our system.

We have been using DTEL Telecommunications since 2015 when we purchased and installed a new phone system. For a company our size with approximately 100 employees and heavily dependent on a phone system, this can be quite a stressful challenge, but with Charlie and his team they made the transition go smoothly and we were up and running in no time. I have been doing business with the folks at DTEL for quite a few years. When we decided to merge two facilities into one last year, DTEL’s help in upgrading and increasing our systems was invaluable. They even contacted our service provider and negotiating the best program for us to be on, an extra step that helped save us money and make the transition easier on us by keeping our down time minimal. This is the service that they have always provided us with and played a big part in us choosing them to handle our upgrade. We continue to use them for smaller projects that come up and are always happy with the results.
